Show Me The Way To Go Home

Not sure that Google Maps should be out of beta yet. I mean, why get out at Le Havre? Surely Portsmouth would make more sense.

White White Rabbit Rabbit

Eric, an albino rabbit, is not the first hot-footed rabbit to go on the run in Ipswich recently. On Thursday Beckham the Bunny had gone missing for the second time in one week leaving her owner, Laura Gooding, 12, desperate for her return. Is Eric your pet? Lidl Bounce Back

The new plans, unveiled at a second public consultation this evening, show very few concessions. In summary, the Lidl store has been stepped back to retain a consistent "street profile" with the proposed retail units. The apex height on the store has been reduced by one metre. The number/size of apartments above the proposed retail units have been reduced although the footprint has increased and roof height remains unchanged.
Residents are generally still opposed to the plans as questions about who would rent any one of the three 200 sq. m shops remain unanswered. Additionally there are still concerns regarding the 'hidden' parking area that would be created behind these units and the likelihood that it will become a secluded haven for youths who do not wish to be observed from the main road.
The Planning application will probably go in within the next fortnight depending on new feedback. The development already has an air of inevitability about it, but maybe public opinion can still win through...
Meanwhile, I noticed the Lidl have a funny game on their website involving rabbits and badgers so maybe they aren't all that bad after all. Check it out here.

There's no escaping the social networking phenomenon that is MySpace.
Do not fear though, MyWarren.blogspot.com will remain at the heart of this particular burrow. Let's just say that some of the passageways are being extended...

Happy Birthday To Me

Having begun at a very leisurely pace, Siân and I continued this by taking a drive north to stay in the beautiful Manor House Farm. Once again, thanks to Alistair Sawday, we had struck gold and found ourselves welcomed into Chris and Margaret's fine Jacobean home in the most idyllic of settings. It's difficult to understate the appeal of a place like this, but for the same price as staying in a Travelodge just outside Stoke I guess you pay your money and make your choice!
Of course, the real reason for staying in the lap of luxury was that it is located a mere 3 miles from Alton Towers. Once we'd had our fill of cooked breakfast we headed off to join the masses. In truth the Towers were not overly busy and we experienced virtually no queueing and sunshine virtually all day long too! Favourite ride is still Nemesis closely followed by Oblivion. Rita: Queen of Speed is truly fast (0-100mph in 3 secs) and Air is a great experience too. Ripsaw gets you damp but nothing beats the Rapids or Flume for an all over soaking!
All in all it was a great trip and a Birthday treat to remember. Till next year maybe...

Hare Scare

The animal then attacked two police officers, who had been called as backup and were "left with no choice but to use their handguns," said police spokesperson Alexander Niederwimmer.
The elderly woman, who was bitten in the foot, had to be hospitalised and the hare's body was being analysed to see if the animal was rabid.
It has been suggested that the hare's extraordinary behaviour might be "linked to puberty and exacerbated by the hot weather", which has been above average for this time of year in Austria

Bunny Crash

A lorry transporting thousands of the animals overturned on the M1 between Budapest and Vienna, scattering its lapin load across several lanes of traffic. Many of the surviving rabbits, who were travelling inside plastic crates, saw their chance for freedom and hopped into the grass verges.By midday some 4,400 of the escapees had been collected and taken away from the scene, but the road is expected to be closed for several hours while clear-up efforts continue.
Motorists have been diverted on to alternative routes.
Kim Jong-il Has His Fill

Karl Szmolinsky sent the huge rabbits to North Korea last year so they could be bred and used to ease desperate food shortages. He thought they were being kept at a zoo in the capital Pyongyang and was planning to travel to the country after Easter to give advice on setting up a breeding facility.
But the 68-year-old says his trip has been cancelled and he suspects it may be because communist officials have eaten the rabbits. Mr Szmolinsky, who has won prizes for his rabbits during 47 years of breeding them, said: "That’s an assumption, not an assertion. But they’re not getting any more."
